Welcome to FOLKS

The PTA at Little Kingshill Combined School is known as FOLKS (Friends of Little Kingshill School).  Our aims are to raise funds to improve the facilities and equipment available in the school and to organise social functions to promote a sense of community amongst those associated with the school.  We run a variety of events throughout the school year; of course, not all of these will appeal to everyone but we hope that you will be able to support at least some of them while your child is in the school.

FOLKS has a Committee made up of at least 10 parents and teaching staff, which plans and co-ordinates the events but the smooth-running of the events also depends on having plenty of other people willing to offer a little time to come and help.  New Committee members are elected by parents at the AGM, held at the beginning of each school year.  If you are interested in helping out, or joining the committee, we would very much welcome your involvement and it is a good way to get to know other parents.

Examples of the support we have been able to give the school recently include buying sports equipment, books to support the new reading and handwriting scheme, laptops for use both in the ICT suite and within the classrooms and fund raising to improve the playground.

Our two big fund raising events are the Christmas and Summer Fayre, but we also organise discos and hot dog days for the children, quiz nights and regular cake sales in the playground amongst other activities.  Some of these are primarily aimed at fund raising, others are mainly fun.  We send home newsletters with the children to keep everyone informed of what is going on.  If you have any other good ideas for money-raising, we would love to hear about them! 

Also, we are always looking for sponsors for events or donors of raffle prizes, so if you work for a local business (or own one) that might be interested in supporting the community and receiving advertising in this way, please let us know.
